GUYS AND DOLLS A SURE BET FOR A FEBURARY OPENING

GILBERT, AZ (January 5, 2010) Guys and Dolls, based on Damon Runyons reflections of New York, is set to open in a razzle-dazzle new production at the Hale Theatre on February 18th featuring Rob Stewart as Sky Masterson. Mr. Stewart recently played the role of Adam in the wildly successful Seven Brides. Guys and Dolls is the story of a group of gamblers in New York and the ladies in their lives. Sky has been bet that he can't make the next lady that he sees fall in love with him, and when that next lady happens to be the prim and proper neighborhood missionary Sarah Brown, the stage is set for an evening of high spirited entertainment, with the toe-tapping beat of Frank Loesser's superlative score. Some of the classic songs featured are 'Luck Be A Lady', 'Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat', 'If I Were a Bell' and many other favorites.

Tregony Shepherd is director and choreographer for the show. Tregony is one of the valley's most sought after directors having a score of award winning shows to her credit. She also is an exceptional actress, having many Broadway shows in her resume. She was director for last seasons Beauty and the Beast at Hale.

Background

Guys and Dolls premiered on Broadway on November 24, 1950 and ran for 1,200 performances, winning five 1951 Tony Awards. In London it ran for 555 performances. In 1955 the film version was released, starring Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, Jean Simmons and Vivian Blaine. It has had many revivals in New York, London, Las Vegas and Austrailia, and has become a popular choice for theatre productions throughout the country.
